LINDEN LITTLE LEAGUE

Little League’s Child Protection Program

For more than a decade, Little League® has led the way among youth sports organizations in assisting local leagues to keep child sex offenders out of the program.

Linden Little League in cooperation with Little League Inc. and J.D.Palatine will be able to quickly and securely process your personal volunteer information. Linden Little League will retain each volunteer application and have access to information provided to JDP for the purpose of the background check. i.e. social security, occupation, employer, etc. When using a paper Little Leaguer Volunteer Application, the local League President shall retain each volunteer application, background check information, and any other documents obtained on file, and maintain the record of a volunteer for at least two (2) years after the volunteer is no longer in the league.
JDP Example: How the background check will be conducted

Effective in 2017, the local league must conduct a nationwide background check that accesses background checks records for sex offender registry data and other criminal records. A check conducted only in one state does not meet the minimum requirements of the regulations.  Little League Regulation I (c) 9 has been revised to state that all leagues in the United States, are required to conduct background checks...
Non-US Citizen Check (without a Social Security Number) will be required to contact JDP Customer Service at (855) 799-8753.

From the start of the season through Fall Ball and beyond, Little League requires all volunteers to complete a Volunteer Application Form. All leagues must conduct a national criminal background check for each volunteer or hired worker that also includes the Department of Justice National Sex Offender Registry check. That includes all managers, coaches, Board of Directors members, umpires, concession stand workers, Team Moms, scorekeepers, and other volunteers who have regular service to the league or repetitive access to children.

As a condition of service to the local Little League®, all managers, coaches, Board of Directors members, and any other persons, volunteers or hired workers, who provide regular service to the league and/or have repetitive access to, or contact with players or teams, must complete and submit an official Little League Volunteer Application to the local League President, or use the JDP Quickapp which is stored on the JDP database.

Annual background screenings must be completed prior to the applicant assuming his/her duties for the current season. Refusal to annually submit a fully-completed Little League Volunteer Application must result in the immediate dismissal of the individual from the local league.

While Little League does its part to keep children in our program safe, all members of the Little League family, from parents to grandparents to spectators, should assist in this important effort. Little League encourages everyone to pay close attention to those who have regular, repetitive access to children. For instance, if a person consistently volunteers at practices that person must complete a background check. If there is a question as to whether that person has gone through the proper background check procedure, it must be brought to the attention of the league’s Board of Directors.
